Following on from our recent news about Bryn Afon Guest House extending our season into November, we’ve decided to put together a short guide into some of the events going on in and around Betws-y-coed this Autumn.

All of the following attractions are within easy reach of our beautiful guest house and we hope you find it useful.

Snowdonia 24 Hour Challenge (Betws-y-coed – September 21st & 22nd)

This brand new event takes place right here in Betws-y-coed, and is open to individuals and teams of all abilities.

Do you have what it takes to complete lap after lap of a beautiful 10km trail taking in the breathtaking views of Llyn Elsi and the Gwydir Forest?

More details can be found on the event’s website at https://www.breeseadventures.co.uk/what-we-do/snowdonia-24/

WRC Wales Rally GB (North Wales – October 3rd to 6th)

Early October presents a fantastic opportunity to watch top class professional motorsport, as the WRC Wales Rally GB once again returns to the region.  The race won in 2018 by Frenchman Sebastian Ogier, sees the worlds best rally drivers tackle the rugged local scenery.

With every day of the race within relatively easy reach of Bryn Afon Guest House, this is a spectacle not to be missed.

Guests staying with us will be particularly interested in the racing on Friday 4th October, as stages take in the Gwydir Forest at Llyn Elsi, just above the village, and also in neighbouring Penmachno.  Full route details for the race can be found at https://www.walesrallygb.com/spectators/route-information/route-overview/.

In the meantime here is a photo to the whet the appetite, as cars passed directly outside Bryn Afon inbetween stages in 2017…..

Victorian Weekend (Porthmadog – October 4th to 6th)

If rallying is not your thing, and you prefer things a little more sedate, then you can take a trip back in time as the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways host a Victorian vintage weekend.

Past times will be brought back to life as the railways’ steam trains will be just part of the spectacle, in a weekend of costume and celebration in the town of Porthmadog.  Stalls selling all manner of food, local produce and crafts will this year be joined by a ferris wheel overlooking the local harbour.

Autumn Colour Tree Walk (Bodnant Gardens – October 21st to 25th)

The National Trust attraction at Bodnant Gardens is one of our personal favourites, and somewhere we love to frequent whenever the opportunity arises.

There is simply no better time to visit the magnificent gardens than mid to late October as the colours change in a festival of autumn splendour.

From October 21st to 25th, you are able to take guided walks through the gardens with a member of the Bodnant team, an opportunity not to be missed.

What's on In Betws-y-coed Autumn 2019

Conwy Feast (Conwy – October 25th to 27th)

The rapidly expanding Conwy Feast brings the month of October towards a very tasty end, with the culinary based extravaganza being well worth the half hour drive down the road from Bryn Afon.

The festival continues to grow with stalls aplenty, and food and drink from all over the globe.  With the accompaniment of live music and various art and crafts based activities, the Conwy Feast provides a wonderful day out for adults and children alike.

There is plenty more information on the weekend to be found at https://conwyfeast.co.uk/

Halloween (Conwy Valley – October 25th onwards)

If Halloween and all things spooky is your bag, then you may be interested in some of the events being put on locally.

Adventure Park Snowdonia, previously known as Surf Snowdonia, in Dolgarrog will be putting on a Halloween Drive In Cinema on the 25th & 26th October, playing a selection of Halloween scaries on gigantic outdoor screens.  Details can be found at https://adventureparcsnowdonia.com/event/halloween-drive-in/

Even closer to home, and just across the River Conwy from us, Zip World are following up their successful Fear Forest 2018 attraction with the 2019 version running from the 25th to 31st of October.

The forest home of the alpine coaster, the plummet and other attractions, is once again likely to be inhabited by all manner of ghouls and terrifying nighttime noises, as they look to once again strike fear into the hearts of any brave souls daring to visit.

Conwy Half Marathon (Conwy – 17th November)

For those of you feeling super active, Sunday 17th November provides the opportunity to run what is surely one of Britains most picturesque half marathons.

The Conwy Half Marathon starts and ends on the town harbour, in the shadows of Conwy Castle, and takes in some stunning coastal scenery along the way.  The views from the summit of the Great Orme, half way round, surely cannot be bettered in any race and would surely tempt even the most avid athlete to stop and take a minute to look around.
